Quartz Countertops

Quartz countertops are a quality engineered stone made with 90% natural quartz and 10% polymers and resins. They are known for their consistent colorations, sleek look, and durability.

Taking Care of Quartz

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance countertop material, look no further than quartz. The polymers and resins included seal up quartz’s natural pores and qualify it as a nonporous material, which means that you do not have to worry about sealing it. Its inherent nonporous nature makes it highly resistant to stains and acids.

All you need to use to clean your quartz is soap and water. Steer clear of abrasive cleaners in order to maintain the surface of your countertop, and your quartz might just outlast your home itself.

Durability of Quartz

Quartz’s durable nature is a big selling point for this material, but please note that it is not indestructible. While quartz is very resistant to scratches, it is not completely scratch proof, so we always recommend the use of a cutting board in the kitchen.

Compared to natural stones, quartz is not quite as heat resistant. This is thanks to the polymers and resins, as they don’t hold up well against heat like stone does. For this reason, always use a hot pad or trivet under hot kitchen items.

Experiencing chips in quartz is rare, but it can happen – especially around the edges. But if this occurs, repairs with epoxy adhesive are simple.

Location

If you’re interested in quartz, you’ll probably want to keep it indoors. The reason behind this is that the resins included in its makeup will yellow in the sun over time. But if you badly want an outdoor quartz countertop, it is possible – you will just have to put extra care into installing it in the shade.
